General Specifications
Fiber optic adapters are used as interconnection device for two connectors. They are mainly used in distribution frames and termination boxes. Many users call them 0dB attenuators or female connectors or even couplers.
They consist of a polymer or a metal body that houses a precise connection element called a split sleeve. The sleeve it generally made up of phosphorous bronze or Zirconia. The ferrules of the connector are mechanically mated inside this sleeve and the quality of the alignment determines the insertion loss of the adapters.
